It is one of the metropolises of Iran and the capital of the province of Fars in the south of the country. Shiraz is located in the central part of the province of Fars, at an altitude of 1486 meters above sea level in the mountainous region of Zagros and enjoys a temperate climate. Shiraz was the third city in Iran, after Tabriz and Tehran, in 1917 the municipal institution was established.

Shiraz has long been a natural place for local exchange of goods between farmers, successors and nomads due to its relative centrality in the southern Zagros region and its location in a relatively fertile area.
