It is not known exactly when this garden was built. But we do know that this garden existed in the Seljuk era in the 12th century. In 1983, Nasir ol-molk had a small palace built by the architect Mohammad Hasan, who had already built the Nasir ol-molk mosque in the historic center. Architects in the Qajar era decorated this building with beautiful ceramics and plaster.
The name of Eram (or Iram) alludes to a paradisiacal garden created by a ruler of pre-Islamic Arabia, and which has become, in Persian literature, an archetype of beauty.
During the Qajar period this garden belonged to the Qashqai tribe, the largest nomadic tribe in Iran. During the second pahlavi, Farah Diba bought this garden and today attached to University of Shiraz.
This complex is known as an Iranian garden registered with UNESCO.
